Judges comment from the Show
Thank you very
much to the committee for their invitation to judge the show on Saturday 5th
July and to my very competent (and funny) book steward and hard working
stewards who stuck with it all day. Hopefully one day I will get a
chance to stay longer and really have the opportunity to see a bit of the
countryside.
I was most impressed with the selection of rabbits at the show.
The stock, overall was of a very high standard. Most of the rabbits were
of very good type. The Lop section was of a very high quality. I
particularly liked the Mini Lop White section. The stock that I
judged I would have in my own rabbit shed anytime. It will be interesting
to see how the young Mini Lop Whites develop. All three
were very promising. The Polish that came Runner Up In Show was
very good and had a lovely style to it.
It was really nice to see some Fur breeds being shown as we find
that in Melbourne it is a section that does not always have any rabbits
being shown. The Satins were nicely satinised and it was good
to see some British Giants on the table and really help to build the muscles
of not only the judge but the stewards.
The Rex breeds were of a generally nice standard. The texture was
good and the density is certainly getting there.
The Mini Lop White was a stand out to me all day and it was going to be
difficult to beat and was a deserving Best In Show winner. The Polish was
a worthy Runner Up In Show.
Well done to all the competitors and again thank you to everyone for
making me feel so welcome and what a great lunch!
I hope that the rest of the shows go well and
perhaps I will see some of you over here for the Melbourne Show.
